Harry Kane did not let Jamie Carragher off the hook for fibbing about their relationship, exposing the Liverpool legend live on TV.
The England captain scored twice as Bayern Munich beat Lazio 3-0 on Tuesday night in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
It was a crucial win for the Bavarians as they lost the first leg 1-0 in Rome, but they are now safely through to the quarter-finals thanks to the dominant win in Germany.
Before the match Carragher claimed that he had called Kane for a chat in the days leading up to the match and CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo put that claim to the former Tottenham superstar.
Asked if Carragher’s story was true or false, Kane replied: ‘That is false.’
Fellow pundits Thierry Henry and Micah Richards were loving the truth bomb, while Carragher replied: ‘H, don’t do this to me!
‘I’m telling everyone in America that we’re friends, we’ve got a great relationship. I can’t believe you’ve just done that to me!’
Kane explained: ‘We are friends, but I’m not going to lie on national TV!
‘We exchange messages on Twitter. We’re Twitter friends.’
On more serious matters, Kane was thrilled to keep Bayern Munich’s Champions League hopes alive, taking his goal tally to 33 for the season.
‘It was a perfect night for us,’ he said. ‘A really top performance. Everyone with energy, all around the pitch, the way we played and created chances and pressed without the ball.
‘Being 1-0 behind in the first leg, obviously a big moment in our season to go through.
‘We know we can improve and be better but nights like this can really change the season. Really proud of the boys and we’ve just got to keep this momentum up.’
