Jude Bellingham has been banned for two La Liga matches after receiving a red card at the climax of Real Madridâs draw with Valencia on Saturday.
Valencia had taken a 2-0 lead in the first half before the away side fought back through two goals from Vinicius Junior.
It looked like there had been the most dramatic of endings when Bellingham headed in a Brahim Diaz cross deep into injury time.
However, referee Jesus Gil Manzano blew the final whistle as the cross was coming in and just before the England midfielder nodded home.
Bellingham and his Real Madrid teammates could not believe it and surrounded the referee, arguing his decision to blow the whistle at that moment.
The refereeâs report was published after the game and read: âIn minute 999 (sic), the player (5) Bellingham, Jude Victor William, was sent off for the following motive: After the end of the game and while still on the pitch, he came running over to me in an aggressive way shouting, repeatedly: âItâs a f*****g goalâ.â
The suspension will keep Bellingham out of a home game against Celta Vigo on 10 March and a trip to Osasuna six days later.
Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti defended Bellingham after the game, saying he didnât deserve to be shown a red card.
âI donât need to talk to Bellingham,â the Real Madrid boss told reporters. âHe is a player who tries to give everything on the field.
âI think the red card was wrong. He was frustrated but he didnât make any kind of insult.â
Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga echoed his managerâs comments, saying: âI donât know how Bellingham received a red card. It was very strange. Very, very strange.â
