Alexis Mac Allister is the ‘one to watch’ in Liverpool’s huge clash at Manchester United on Sunday, according to Harry Redknapp.
With Arsenal and Manchester City in action on Saturday, Liverpool will be looking to regain their place at the top of the Premier League when they travel to Old Trafford.
As it stands, just three points separate the title contenders, with this probably the trickiest fixture in the Reds’ run-in, especially as they lost 4-3 at United in the FA Cup just a few weeks ago.
That was however Jurgen Klopp’s side’s only defeat in their last 12 games in all competitions, with 10 of those being wins, and given United’s defensive frailties many expecte the visitors to emerge victorious.
Redknapp is one of those, giving his Premier League predictions for this weekend’s fixtures to BetVictor.
‘What a game that was against Chelsea, but how on earth did Manchester United lose that at the end?’ the former West Ham and Tottenham manager said.
‘Some of the defending was just woeful. I thought they were shambolic against Brentford as well and this is now a massive game for Erik ten Hag.
‘I know the FA Cup tie was a thriller and United came out on top, but I can’t see that happening again. United have been all over the place at the back and Liverpool are too good and too motivated right now.
‘Prediction: Manchester United 1 – 3 Liverpool.’
Mac Allister scored with a thunderbolt of a goal against the Blades on Thursday night, with the Argentina international enjoying a great first season at Anfield, with six goals and seven assists so far.
Redknapp believes the midfielder’s exploits have gone under the radar and has tipped the 25-year-old to be the ‘one to watch’ against United, adding: ‘Alexis Mac Allister has been outstanding recently – he’s been as good as anyone in the league.
‘That goal against Sheffield during the week was like a vintage Steven Gerrard strike! I know the lad is a World Cup winner, but I don’t think people realise just how good he is.’
