Thierry Henry says Chris Wilder made a huge tactical blunder as his Sheffield United side were thrashed by Arsenal on Monday night.
It was fully expected that title chasing Arsenal would beat bottom of the table Sheffield United when they met at Bramall Lane.
But given the Gunnersâ recent sensational away form and the Bladesâ horrific home form, some had tipped this match to be high-scoring in the visitorsâ favour.
And that indeed came to pass as Arsenal found the back of the net five times in the first-half through Martin Odegaard, a Jayden Bogle own goal, Gabriel Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.
Ben White added a sixth after the break.
Asked at half-time whether he felt the scoreline was down to Arsenalâs brilliance or Sheffield Unitedâs woefulness, Gunners legend Henry told Sky Sports: âA bit of both. Itâs easy to be sitting here, watching the game when youâre not the coach.
âPlaying Arsenal in a back four was extremely brave. You have to play them in a back five. If Arsenal play like that and you donât bite, without stepping up⊠itâs just not good enough. Too easy.
âItâs going to be a long night for Wilder and an enjoyable one for Arsenal.â
Sheffield United have now set an incredible, unwanted record, becoming the first team in English football history to concede five goals in four consecutive home games across all competitions.
Henryâs fellow pundit Jamie Carragher was damning in his criticism, adding: âI think that first-half from Sheffield United was a disgrace.
âI think itâs one of the most one-sided games of football Iâve ever seen.Â
âYou come into this game on the back of losing two Premier League home games five-nil and itâs probably one of the worst performances Iâve ever seen.Â
âI canât think of anything worse Iâve ever seen.â
