There was palpable tension in the Old-Kuyelo community in the Birnin Bwari area of Kaduna State as terrorists invaded the community on Tuesday night.
The Secretary-General, Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, Abdulrashid Abarshi, confirmed the incident to PUNCH Online on Thursday.
According to Abarshi, the terrorists invaded the old Kuyello town which forced the residents to desert their communities for fear of being kidnapped.
Abarshi said, “We received information that the terrorists have been in old Kuyello and Shadow Village since Tuesday without any challenge by the Nigerian security operatives
“We appeal to the Nigerian military as a matter of urgency to deploy security operatives to restore normalcy in those villages.”
He pointed out that apart from the Birnin Gwari town, the next biggest town is old-Kuyello.
“As I speak to you, the terrorists are there in the Village, we’re afraid that they’re not planning to take over the village and settle there,” Abarshi added.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, did not respond to calls and a text message sent to him by our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.
