Ruben Amorim took charge of his first Manchester United training session on Monday as he gets to grips with life at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese coach was appointed last week but he had to wait until Monday to take training, due to visa issues.
The 39-year-old arrives with fresh ideas and United fans are eagerly awaiting his first starting XI for Sunday’s trip to Ipswich.
Amorim has vowed to stick to his principles and to build an identity, but it remains to be seen whether he will adopt his favoured 3-4-3 formation immediately at Old Trafford.
But, if Amorim’s first training session is anything to go by, that looks set to be the case.
During a mock 11vs11, the Portuguese selected Altay Bayındir in goal with a back three of Leny Yoro, Jonny Evans and Luke Shaw.
Antony was deployed at right wing-back with Tyrell Malacia on the other side, and Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo in the middle.
Marcus Rashford was pitched as the lone front man, with Mason Mount and Amad Diallo as inverted wingers behind him.
With so many players away on international duty, Amorim’s starting XI at Portman Road is likely to be far different.
But it’s an indication that the former Sporting boss will not compromise his tactical beliefs for results in the early days of his tenure.
Shaw, Malacia, Mainoo and Mount have all resumed full training, following varying lengths out with injuries this season.
Victor Lindelof is expected to miss Sunday’s game after sustaining an injury on international duty with Sweden.
