Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Manchester United superstar Bruno Fernandes in a summer transfer window mega move, according to reports.
Fernandes is United’s captain and a key player in the dressing room but sparked huge speculation over his future with the Red Devils at the end of April.
‘Obviously, it doesn’t just depend on me, does it?’ Fernandes said. ‘A player always has to want to be here, but at the same time, you have to want him to stay.
‘At the moment, I feel there’s that on both sides… If you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League, it won’t be until after the Euros.’
United boss Erik ten Hag insists he ‘absolutely’ wants Fernandes to stay at Old Trafford, believing the midfielder’s comments were ‘taken out of context’.
But that hasn’t stopped PSG from registering their interest in the Portugal international, and they are keen to sign him ahead of the 2024-25 season.
That’s according to French outlet L’Equipe, who report that PSG now have a ‘significant interest’ in United’s 29-year-old star Fernandes.
Fernandes has played a total of 233 games for United to date, conjuring up 79 goals and 66 assists since he joined the club from Sporting Lisbon in 2020.
Meanwhile, L’Equipe also report that PSG have been locked in discussions with United over a deal for Jadon Sancho for ‘several days’.
Sancho, who massively fell out with Ten Hag last term and was sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund, is believed to be keen on a move to the French capital.
That news comes despite Ten Hag’s claim that the pair have ‘drawn a line’ under their spat.
‘As we said, we draw the line,’ Ten Hag said. ‘Manchester United need good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.’
Sancho has scored 12 goals in 82 appearances for Manchester United since completing a £73m move from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
Man Utd urged to sign £50m midfielder ‘who is a better passer than Bruno Fernandes’
Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has urged the club to sign Adam Wharton and believes the Crystal Palace midfielder is a better passer than Bruno Fernandes.
‘His range of passing is fantastic,’ Parker said of Wharton in an interview with mybettingsites.co.uk. ‘He very rarely gives it away. He’s always positive with his passing as well. Very, very positive. I think he’s got a long range. His longer range of passing is good. Bruno’s is good, but I think he’s better. He doesn’t give the ball away as cheaply as Bruno.’
‘He cannot leave!’ – Steve Bruce worried Man Utd will make huge mistake over Bruno Fernandes
Steve Bruce is worried Manchester United will make a major transfer mistake by selling Bruno Fernandes this summer.
Bruce told talkSPORT: ‘He cannot leave. Look, for me, the one shining light in the last few years at Manchester United has been Bruno.
‘I mean, he plays with huge intensity. Yes, he gets a bit frustrated at times and can be a bit petulant at times, but in terms of a footballer, just look at the statistics…
‘He plays 50 games a season and he scores 15 to 20 goals a season and is at the top of the assists too. He is a top, top player… you don’t want to be losing him.’
