Pep Guardiola has provided an injury update on Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson ahead of Manchester City’s title decider against West Ham on Sunday.
City will clinch the Premier League trophy for the sixth time in seven seasons if they record victory over the Hammers on the final day of the top-flight season.
Arsenal still have a chance of beating them to the title, but they need to beat Everton and hope City drop points against David Moyes’ side at the Etihad.
Guardiola’s side defeated Tottenham 2-0 on Tuesday but City fans have been left sweating over the fitness of two key players.
City’s No.1 goalkeeper Ederson was forced off with injury in the second half while De Bruyne got hurt after being brought down by Spurs star Pape Matar Sarr.
‘Kevin [De Bruyne] had a kick to the ankle and couldn’t run properly,’ Guardiola told Sky Sports after the match.
‘Ederson did not have concussion, he had a problem with his eye. He could not see properly so the doctor said I should change.
‘He [Stefan Ortega] is a world-class keeper. He’s an exceptional, exceptional keeper.’
In his post-match press conference, Guardiola added: ‘Kevin has a problem with his ankle.
‘Ederson had a kick in the eye and it is swollen. He can’t see properly. The doctor told me he needed to be replaced. I didn’t have an alternative.’
Meanwhile, City star Kyle Walker has mocked the Arsenal fans who tried to disrupt him with fireworks the night before the clash against Spurs.
‘Last night, I couldn’t sleep,’ Walker told Sky Sports. ‘They tried to set fireworks off but we weren’t there, they missed us. I can’t describe the feeling when we went 2-0 up.
‘It was an unusual game but we are competitors. Spurs could have gone and got the Champions League. You could see they were putting everything on the line to win the game.’
