Novak Djokovic is ‘considering’ Andy Murray’s mum as his new tennis coach after splitting with Goran Ivanisevic, according to reports in Serbia.
The 24-time Grand Slam champion parted ways with Ivanisevic last week following a successful six-year stint in which the pair won 12 major titles.
Djokovic was dominant in the 2023 season, winning the Australian Open, Roland-Garros and US Open while he also registered a runner-up finish at Wimbledon.
But the Serbian has endured some struggles this year, missing out on the Australian Open title to Jannik Sinner before a shock early exit at Indian Wells.
Djokovic was involved in an fall-out with his own team at Melbourne Park in January while last year, Ivanisevic admitted the world No.1 was hard to manage.
The tennis veteran is now seeking a new coach and Serbian outlet Kurir have reported that Amelie Mauresmo and Conchita Martinez are two main options.
They also claim that Judy Murray is ‘certainly one of the options’ – although it remains to be seen if she would be willing to work with her son’s former rival.
There is lots of speculation that two-time Wimbledon champion and double Olympic Gold medallist Murray could soon retire from tennis over his ankle injury.
Murray had already admitted that he is unlikely to play much beyond this summer and it was thought that Wimbledon or the Paris Olympics could be his last event.
But he suffered a horror ankle injury at the Miami Open, which has thrown his farewell plans into doubt.
Murray’s management team recently released a statement which read: ‘Following consultation with his team and medical experts, Andy Murray has taken the decision to miss the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters and BMW Open Munich.
‘At this stage, it is still not clear how long Andy will be out of action, and he is continuing to review options with his medical team.
‘Obviously this is very disappointing news for Andy and he has reiterated his desire to get back on court as soon as possible.
‘He thanks all his fans for their kind messages of support and will continue to update everybody as the situation evolves.’
