In another development, the Nigerian Army has reportedly rescued four family members kidnapped by Boko Haram, after laying an ambush at the logistics crossing point of the terrorists along the Yuwe- Komala Riad in the Bama Local Government Area in Borno State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad area, the troops of the Forward Operating Base Molai, in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai rescued the victims on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
According to the report, the troops confronted the terrorists while carrying out a counter-offensive patrol in Yuwe which led to a heavy gun battle.
Citing intelligence sources, Makama said the troops defeated terrorists and that some of them fled in disarray, thus abandoning their ammunition.
The sources identified the rescued victims as a 24-year-old mother, Aisha Usman and her daughters, Hauwa, eight; Binta, six and Amina, two.
