Max Verstappen has spoken out for the first time about his father’s comments on Christian Horner amid the escalating Red Bull scandal.
While the reigning Formula 1 champion would prefer to do his talking on the track, he has been thrust head first into the saga thanks to Jos Verstappen calling for Horner to be sacked.
Red Bull team principal Horner was cleared after an investigation into allegations of ‘inappropriate behaviour’ that were made by a female employee of the team.
Texts and images supposedly related to the probe were leaked on the eve of the new F1 season, but Horner, husband of former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, has continued to deny all accusations and is defiant that he will remain in charge of Red Bull.
He claimed the team were united behind him, only for Jos to call for the 50-year-old to be sacked just hours after Max won the Bahrain Grand Prix, claiming that Red Bull would ‘explode’ if he stayed.
Furthermore, the rising tensions between Horner and Verstappen Snr. have lead to speculation that Max could leave the team whom he has driven for nearly his entire career.
Max, who has won the last three championships and has a contract until 2028 with Red Bull, finally addressed his dad’s comments on Wednesday ahead of this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

‘From my side I’m just focusing on the driving bit and I think that is the most important thing for the team right now,’ the 26-year-old said.
‘And also why we came here. That’s our main target and what we want to focus on, to not have this stuff going on race after race because that is not good for the team.’
Asked if he could ever see himself not racing for Red Bull in 2025, he responded things must go really crazy I guess but that’s not the target for everyone so…’
