Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been urged to leave Old Trafford by former Tottenham winger Lucas Moura.
The midfielder endured a difficult second campaign at the Theatre of Dreams last term, with Casemiro missing the FA Cup final through injury as United salvaged their season.
The 32-year-old has two years to run on the four-year deal he penned in 2022 following a £60m move from Real Madrid.
But United’s new co-owners are keen to offload Casemiro as they seek to overhaul the club’s transfer strategy.
Saudi Arabia would appear the only viable destination for Casemiro if United are seeking a substantial fee for the Brazilian.
But Lucas Moura, who was a team-mate of Casemiro at Sao Paulo and has since returned to the club, has urged the central midfielder to reunite with him in Brazil.
‘It would be a dream, one of the best midfielders in the world, and created here in Cotia too,’ said Moura.
‘Casemiro, I already said: “Hey, let’s go back, play a little more here together, recreate that duo!”
‘I think his situation is more difficult, he still has a contract with Manchester [United]. He has a lot of wood to burn, it’s a more delicate situation, but if he wants, we’ll try to find a way here.’
United are expected to be in the market for a central midfielder, regardless of whether Casemiro leaves the club.
Central defence is another area of priority following Raphael Varane’s exit.
