The disgraced former Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has denied any accusations of corruption after his detainment on his return to Spain amid an ongoing corruption probe. Spain’s Civil Guard said that Rubiales is being questioned by police at Madrid’s airport after he was detained on exiting the plane that brought him back home from the Dominican Republic. Police have 72 hours to hand Rubiales over to a judge or release him. “I am here today to say that it is a lie that I took a kickback from apartments [in the Dominican Republic],” he said. “I did not take anything. I want to be very calm and clear. I really want to get there and speak to the judge. And I offered to go on day one.”
