Trippier went down in the second half as England held out for a narrow win – courtesy of Jude Bellingham’s first-half header – to move top of Group C.
With Luke Shaw still working his way back to full fitness, a potential injury to Tripper would leave England desperately short of options at left-back.
However, Southgate was confident that Tripper’s issue was not a concern as his side now turn their attention to Denmark on Thursday.
‘Kieran [Trippier] was just cramp. As far as I know everyone has come through well,’ the England boss told BBC Radio 5 Live after the game.
While England’s second-half display left much to be desired, one player who left with plenty of credit was centre-back Marc Guehi who impressed on his major tournament debut.
‘Really pleased for him,’ Southgate said when asked about the Crystal Palace defender’s performance. ‘I saw the player I have seen every week for his club, positionally he was sound.
‘Today was going to be a particular test in terms of his stature as he’s not the biggest centre-back, but he dealt with the aerial threat really well.’
Guehi, meanwhile, was pleased with his own display but sought to credit his experienced defensive partners for guiding him throughout the encounter.
‘I enjoyed it a lot. It was a great atmosphere and I am just grateful to play with such experienced players,’ he told UEFA.com after the game.
‘They make it easier for me to play in my position and they help me and the team. It is more of a team performance and I am just glad to have top professionals around me.
‘If we are going to go far in this tournament, we are going to have to suffer and it was a great test for us. It is a good learning curve for the team and hopefully we can take it on to the next game.’
