Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is a doubt for his side’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United due to a virus.
Gallagher has, alongside Cole Palmer, been the club’s star performer in an otherwise difficult season for the Blues.
The Blues are 11th in the Premier League and they’re through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where they’ll face Leicester City.
Mauricio Pochettino is under immense pressure following the defeat in the Carabao Cup final, which was followed up in the league with a draw away at Brentford.
And the Argentine has revealed that Gallagher has joined Levi Colwill and Ben Chilwell on the sidelines, meaning he could miss the visit of Newcastle.
‘You all know now that we’ve added Levi Colwill and Chilwell to the list of injured players,’ said Pochettino.
‘Since Saturday, Gallagher is not training because he’s got a virus. Let’s see if it’s possible for him [Gallagher] to be available. We need to assess him”
‘He is not here in the last three days we were training. We will see tomorrow or Saturday if he can have the possibility to train. The problem is you lose weight and the energy is down.’
