Arsenal have been left sweating over injury concerns to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli after they thrashed Sheffield United.
Arsenal won 6-0 at Bramall Lane on Monday night to move them back within two points of Premier League title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
They scored five in the first-half alone courtesy of Martin Odegaard, a Jayden Bogle own goal, Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.
Ben White added a sixth after the break, but despite their dominance there were no more goals to be scored.
But it wasn’t all smiles for the Gunners at full-time, after Martinelli needed assistance as he limped off the pitch in the 63rd minute, with Gabriel Jesus taking his place.
Saka was also subbed off at half-time, having been seen speaking to the club physio after going down the tunnel at the break, leading to concerns that he too may have picked up an injury.
Mikel Arteta clarified matters post-match, it looks to be positive news for both players.
‘He [Saka] was feeling a bit sick. As well we have Fabio [Vieira] who we needed to give minutes,’ the manager told Sky Sports.
‘We had a little issue with Gabi Martinelli. He had a little cut in his foot. We need to see how it is.’
Arsenal have the chance to go top of the table on Saturday evening when they play Brentford, and they will stay there if Liverpool vs Man City on Sunday ends in a draw.
