Arsenal have been slammed for an ’embarrassing’ subtle dig at Manchester United after Saturday’s FA Cup final.
United shocked Manchester City at Wembley to secure the final major domestic trophy of the year after Liverpool won the Carabao Cup and Pep Guardiola’s side clinched the Premier League title.
Arsenal, meanwhile, finished the season with just the Community Shield to add to their trophy cabinet after missing out on the top-flight title on the final day.
But the Gunners could not resist aiming a subtle dig at United on social media following the FA Cup final, boasting that they had won the trophy more times.
Just a mere four minutes after United posted the full-time score on X, Arsenal put up their own post, which read: ‘We have a legacy in the FA Cup like no other team having lifted the trophy a record 14 times.
‘Can you name the players who started in each of our seven wins since the year 2000?’
United’s victory over City means they have now won the FA Cup 13 times, just one less than Arsenal.
Arsenal have been trolled for their ‘cringe’ social media message with @ManLikeIcey posting: ‘You’re the smallest club in London. Chelsea bigger than [you].’
‘This is cringe Admin,’ @Yasuke1886 added. ‘[Manchester] United had a better season.’
Liverpool fan @LFCVik2 said: ‘[Arsenal] won 0 trophies mate don’t beg it.’
‘Congrats to Arsenal for winning the “we have lifted the fa cup 14 times” trophy this season,’ @ez89o9 posted.
‘Shameless club,’ @holardamolar said while @FrancisChipp added: ‘No one cares what you won decades ago, you won absolutely nothing just like the rest of us this season.’
‘Probably the most embarrassing post you’ll ever see from a ‘big’ club given the timing,’ United fan @UsmaanTalkUTD posted. ‘No trophies in 4 years.’
